The New Denza Z9 GT Might Be the Longest Range Electric Car Yet
The premium electric vehicle brand Denza, part of BYD’s growing lineup of new energy vehicles, has officially introduced the refreshed Denza Z9 GT. The updated grand tourer arrives with 5 different variants and a price range between 269,800 yuan and 369,800 yuan, which is roughly 39,100 United States dollars to 53,600 United States dollars. One of the most notable changes is the addition of a new single motor rear wheel drive version, expanding the lineup and offering a different driving character compared with the high performance models.
What immediately stands out is the impressive driving range. Denza claims the Z9 GT can travel up to 1,036 kilometers on a single charge according to the China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle standard. That figure positions the car among the longest range pure electric vehicles currently available, highlighting how quickly battery and charging technologies continue to evolve.
The exterior design has been carefully refined rather than completely redesigned. At the front, the Z9 GT receives a sharper and more modern look. The long, stretched headlights remain a key signature element, but the front bumper has been reshaped to appear more aggressive and aerodynamic. A new LiDAR sensor is now integrated into the front, enabling more advanced driver assistance capabilities and preparing the vehicle for increasingly sophisticated automated driving functions.
Moving along the side profile, the car keeps its elegant and flowing silhouette. The fastback shape remains one of the Z9 GT’s most recognizable features. Designers added new wheel designs and integrated hidden door handles to maintain the smooth and clean body lines. At the rear, elongated tail lights emphasize the width of the vehicle while a reinforced sporty bumper and a dynamic rear spoiler help complete the athletic appearance.
Inside the cabin, Denza focused on modernizing the driving experience while maintaining the high tech atmosphere the brand is known for. One of the noticeable changes is the addition of a column mounted gear selector, which helps free up space in the center console. The steering wheel has also been redesigned, and the cabin now features dynamic ambient lighting that changes the overall mood of the interior.
The dashboard continues to use a three screen layout, anchored by a large floating central display that controls many of the vehicle’s functions. A new Lava Red interior theme has been introduced, giving buyers a sportier option. This configuration includes integrated sport seats, carbon fiber interior trim, a three spoke sports steering wheel, and a one touch Boost racing paddle designed to enhance performance driving moments.
Additional details inside the cabin include newly designed air vents, a premium metal column shifter, diamond stitched upholstery, and exclusive branding elements that highlight the Z9 GT’s premium positioning.
Under the skin, Denza expanded the powertrain options to appeal to different types of drivers. The new single motor version delivers a maximum output of 370 kilowatts, which equals 496 horsepower. For those seeking extreme performance, the triple motor version remains available and has been further upgraded.
In this high performance configuration, the system uses three electric motors rated at 230 kilowatts, 310 kilowatts, and 310 kilowatts. Together they deliver astonishing acceleration, allowing the Z9 GT to sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds. That places the car firmly in the territory of high performance electric grand tourers.
Power comes from Denza’s second generation Blade Battery technology. The improved battery system allows extremely fast charging capabilities. According to the company, the battery can gain significant charge in just 5 minutes and reach a full charge in around 9 minutes under ideal conditions.
In addition to the fully electric version, Denza also offers a plug in hybrid variant. This model combines electric and combustion power and can travel up to 401 kilometers purely on electricity according to the China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle test standard.
With its combination of striking design, ultra long range capability, and high performance options, the new Denza Z9 GT represents another step forward for BYD’s premium electric vehicle strategy.
