Tesla Roadster Reveal Delayed Until October 15
Tesla fans will have to wait a little longer for one of the company’s most anticipated reveals. Tesla has officially postponed its upcoming Roadster event, moving the date from October 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026, because of concerns over severe weather.
Tesla announced the change on September 28 after monitoring weather conditions with local meteorologists. The company said severe conditions were predicted and that the Roadster event can only be held outdoors. Rather than risk holding the demonstration in poor conditions, Tesla made the decision to push the event back by 2 weeks.
The outdoor requirement is one of the most interesting details surrounding the announcement. Tesla has not fully revealed what it intends to demonstrate, but the company has been building anticipation around a special Roadster experience. The fact that the presentation needs to happen outside only adds more curiosity about what Tesla has planned.
The next generation Tesla Roadster has been a long time coming. Tesla originally unveiled the Roadster concept in 2017, presenting it as an electric supercar capable of performance far beyond the company’s existing vehicles. Since then, the project has experienced several changes and delays while expectations surrounding the production version have continued to grow.

More recently, Tesla has started teasing the Roadster again. The company showed a glimpse of the car following its recent Tesla Semi event, giving viewers another indication that the Roadster program is moving closer to its next major public appearance.
Elon Musk has also discussed an ambitious SpaceX related package for the Roadster involving cold gas thrusters. Exactly what Tesla will demonstrate at the October event remains unknown, and the company has not confirmed that the outdoor requirement is specifically connected to the thruster system. Still, the unusual requirement for an outdoor presentation is likely to fuel even more speculation.
For people who have been following the Roadster since 2017, another delay is probably not the news they wanted to hear. This time, however, the change is relatively short. Instead of waiting months or another year, the event has simply moved 14 days.
Tesla says additional details will be announced, so information about the updated event schedule and presentation could arrive before October 15.
Now all attention moves to the new date. If everything stays on schedule, October 15, 2026, could finally give us a much clearer look at what Tesla has been developing and how different the latest Roadster is from the car originally shown nearly 9 years ago.
