Subaru STI Hatchback Rendered And It Looks Insane

The idea of a true STI hatchback making a comeback is starting to feel real again, and these latest patent images give us a much clearer picture of what Subaru could be preparing. At first glance, it is obvious this is not just a regular Impreza with a badge upgrade. The entire stance looks more aggressive, more planted, and built with performance in mind.

What really stands out are the widened fenders at both the front and rear. They give the car a muscular look that immediately separates it from the standard model. Combined with the large rear spoiler sitting high above the hatch, the overall design feels purposeful, almost like it was shaped for both the street and the track. Up front, the grille blends seamlessly into the headlights, creating a more modern and sharper face. The new bumper design looks cleaner but also more functional, while the hood scoop adds that unmistakable performance identity Subaru fans expect.

The side profile carries black accents on the mirrors and roof, with the possibility of carbon fiber elements adding even more character. The side skirts are noticeably wider, enhancing the low and aggressive stance. Under the surface, the standard Impreza remains relatively modest, offering 2.0 liter and 2.5 liter boxer engines producing 154 hp and 185 hp. Both are paired with all wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission. However, the expected STI version changes everything. A 2.4 liter turbocharged boxer engine delivering around 359 hp, paired with a 6 speed manual transmission, would instantly put it in a completely different league. For comparison, the current WRX sedan produces 275 hp from a similar engine layout.

If this model reaches production soon, it could mark a serious return to form for Subaru performance cars. It is not just about numbers, but about bringing back that raw, engaging feel that made STI models so popular in the first place.
