New Xpeng G9L Adds 450 KM of Range in Just 9 Minutes

New Xpeng G9L Adds 450 KM of Range in Just 9 Minutes

The sport utility vehicle market continues to grow, and Xpeng is preparing to make a strong statement with its new G9L. Designed as a full size battery electric vehicle, this new model is aimed at buyers who want generous interior space, advanced technology, and fast charging without moving into the luxury price range.

Unlike many large sport utility vehicles that focus on carrying more passengers, the G9L is offered exclusively as a 5 seat model. That decision allows Xpeng to create a roomier cabin while avoiding overlap with its recently introduced 6 seat model. Measuring 5120 millimeters long with a 3100 millimeter wheelbase, the G9L is even longer than a BMW X5, giving rear passengers and cargo plenty of extra room.

Power comes from a dual motor all wheel drive system that combines a 215 horsepower front electric motor with a 362 horsepower rear motor. Together they produce 577 horsepower, giving the large crossover impressive performance while maintaining a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

One of the biggest highlights is the vehicle’s 800 volt electrical architecture. Xpeng says the G9L can recover up to 450 kilometers of driving range in only 9 minutes when connected to a compatible ultra fast charger. That kind of charging performance could make long distance travel much more convenient for owners.

The exterior follows the company’s latest design language with a clean front end, hidden door handles, large 22 inch wheels, and wide rear fenders that give the sport utility vehicle a confident stance. Inside, comfort receives plenty of attention with power adjustable front seats, additional lumbar and side support, a zero gravity passenger seat, a built in refrigerator, an augmented reality head up display, and a spacious 1152 liter cargo area.

Technology is another major selling point. The G9L uses Xpeng’s latest artificial intelligence powered driving system supported by 4 Turing chips that deliver up to 2250 TOPS of computing performance. The system supports advanced navigation assistance, automated parking, and other intelligent driving features. Xpeng also claims the new model delivers one of the quickest moose test performances in its segment while meeting demanding international safety targets.

Pricing is expected to start around 300000 yuan, or approximately 44435 United States dollars. With its combination of long range capability, rapid charging, spacious interior, and advanced technology, the Xpeng G9L is shaping up to be one of the most interesting new electric sport utility vehicles to watch as it prepares for its official global launch.
