New Volvo XC60 Rendered With XC90 Inspired Design

The Volvo XC60 has been one of the Swedish brand’s most successful sport utility vehicles for years, and now it looks like a major refresh is finally on the way. Recently spotted prototype models are giving everyone an early look at what could become the most dramatic update for the second generation XC60 since it first arrived on the market nearly 10 years ago.

The biggest changes appear at the front, where Volvo is clearly borrowing inspiration from the redesigned XC90. The updated crossover is expected to feature a much wider grille, sharper headlight graphics, and a cleaner hood design that gives the vehicle a more modern and upscale appearance. Even though the side profile remains familiar, the refreshed styling helps the XC60 look newer and more aggressive without losing its elegant Scandinavian identity.

The rear section is also receiving noticeable updates. New taillights with simplified shapes and fresh light signatures give the crossover a cleaner and more futuristic appearance. Volvo also appears to be redesigning the tailgate with smoother surfaces, helping the rear look more premium and less cluttered than before.

One of the most exciting rumors surrounding the updated XC60 involves the plug in hybrid system. Reports suggest Volvo could significantly improve the electric driving range, potentially reaching as much as 200 kilometers on electric power alone. That would be a huge improvement compared to the current model, which offers roughly 80 kilometers of electric range. If true, this could make the XC60 one of the most practical luxury plug in hybrid sport utility vehicles on the market.
