New Stelato G9 Has 586 HP and 1,366 KM Range
Huawei’s growing influence in the automotive world is taking another major step with the launch of the Stelato G9, a large luxury sport utility vehicle designed to combine serious off road capability with the technology and comfort expected from a premium flagship. The new G9 officially went on sale during a HIMA product launch event, with pricing ranging from 429,800 yuan, approximately $63,390, to 549,800 yuan.
That starting price is slightly lower than the earlier presale figure of 439,800 yuan, giving the G9 a more aggressive position in China’s increasingly competitive premium sport utility vehicle market. Buyers can choose from 10 different configurations, including extended range electric and fully battery electric versions.
The timing of the launch is also important. The Stelato G9 is making its public appearance on August 21 at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, where HIMA is presenting its broader vehicle lineup.
Visually, the G9 takes Stelato in a different direction. Instead of following the smoother styling of the brand’s previous vehicles, the new sport utility vehicle uses a large, upright and boxy shape. It measures 5,377 millimeters long, 2,050 millimeters wide and 1,897 millimeters tall, while the wheelbase stretches 3,160 millimeters.
Customers can select either a 5 seat or 6 seat interior. Despite the G9’s rugged appearance, comfort remains a major part of the package. Dual zero gravity front seats and an onboard compressor refrigerator are included as standard equipment across the lineup.
Underneath that large body is plenty of performance. Huawei’s 800 volt Giant Whale battery platform and dual motor all wheel drive are standard. Together, the electric motors produce a maximum combined output of 437 kilowatts, or 586 horsepower. Huawei says the G9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 5 seconds, impressive performance for a vehicle of this size.
The fully electric G9 receives a large 120 kilowatt hour battery and provides up to 728 kilometers of range under the China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. Drivers wanting greater long distance flexibility can choose the extended range version with either a 56 kilowatt hour or 75 kilowatt hour battery. The larger configuration can provide up to 405 kilometers of battery only driving range and as much as 1,366 kilometers of total combined range.
Technology is another major part of the G9 story. The vehicle uses Huawei Advanced Driving System 5.0 along with a new generation dual path light detection and ranging system. A total of 38 high precision sensors are positioned around the vehicle.
Huawei describes the G9 as the first luxury hardcore sport utility vehicle with an architecture developed around Level 3 autonomous driving. The company also says it is the first vehicle in this category approved in Beijing for Level 3 autonomous driving road testing at speeds reaching 120 kilometers per hour.
Off road hardware has not been forgotten. The G9 introduces Huawei’s all terrain Tuling platform, combining dual chamber air suspension with dual valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers. The suspension provides 130 millimeters of ride height adjustment, allowing the vehicle to adapt to different surfaces while maintaining comfort on regular roads.
The Stelato G9 enters a segment occupied by serious Chinese luxury off road vehicles, including the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 and Tank 700. Those rivals traditionally emphasize rugged construction and difficult terrain capability. Stelato is taking a slightly different approach by combining that imposing off road character with luxury, electric performance and Huawei’s latest vehicle technology.
