New Freelander 8 Just Shocked Everyone With This Interior

The upcoming Freelander 8 continues to reveal more about what buyers can expect before its official launch in China during the second half of 2026. This time, the spotlight moves inside, where the sport utility vehicle focuses on passenger comfort with a spacious six-seat cabin and several premium features designed for long-distance travel.

Instead of the traditional five-seat layout, the Freelander 8 adopts a 2+2+2 configuration. The biggest highlight is the pair of second-row zero gravity seats, which are designed to provide a more relaxing seating position. These seats also include heating, ventilation, and massage functions, giving rear passengers a luxury experience usually reserved for higher-end vehicles.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover has also equipped the cabin with several thoughtful features aimed at families and business travelers. Optional tray tables mounted behind the front seats make it easier to work or eat while traveling, while a roof-mounted entertainment screen helps keep rear passengers entertained. Even those sitting in the third row receive dedicated armrests and cup holders, making every seat feel more accommodating.

The technology inside the Freelander 8 is equally impressive. Stretching across the dashboard is a massive 46.3-inch 8K panoramic display measuring about 1.2 meters wide. A separate 15.6-inch center touchscreen controls most vehicle functions, while premium crystal-style rotary controls and physical buttons add a more refined feel to the interior.

Powering the digital experience is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8397 automotive processor, delivering a significant improvement in computing capability over previous hardware. The vehicle is also expected to feature Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving system, although the final production specification has not yet been confirmed.

Under the body, the Freelander 8 rides on an 800-volt extended-range electric vehicle platform. It combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender engine with a 60.331 kilowatt-hour CATL battery, offering a WLTC electric driving range of 221 kilometers. Fast charging support reaches up to 350 kilowatts, while the vehicle is also capable of towing up to 2,000 kilograms.

With its luxurious cabin, advanced technology, and capable electrified powertrain, the Freelander 8 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting new family sport utility vehicles expected to arrive in the Chinese market later this year.
