New Cupra Raval Revealed With 222 HP And 280 Mile Range

This is exactly the kind of car that makes city driving feel exciting again, and Cupra seems to know it. The new Raval is not trying to be just another small electric vehicle. It is designed to stand out, both visually and behind the wheel, while still fitting into tight urban spaces where larger vehicles struggle.

From the moment you look at it, the connection to the Urban Rebel concept is clear. The aggressive front end with its sharknose design gives the car a sharp, almost performance-focused attitude, while the sloping roofline adds a sporty touch that you do not usually see in this segment. Even small details like the illuminated grille help give the Raval a more premium and modern presence.

Inside, Cupra did not cut corners. The cabin feels surprisingly advanced for a compact city car. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster sits in front of the driver, paired with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. What really stands out is the return of physical controls on the steering wheel and center console, something many drivers will appreciate in everyday use.

Despite its compact size, the Raval is practical. It measures 159.3 inches in length with a 102.4-inch wheelbase, giving it decent interior space. The trunk offers 441 liters of capacity, which is more than enough for daily errands or even a short trip.

Under the skin, the Raval rides on the MEB+ front-wheel-drive platform, sharing its foundation with other vehicles from the Volkswagen Group. Buyers will have multiple choices, including 4 trim levels and 4 different powertrain setups. The entry-level version delivers 133 horsepower with a 37 kilowatt-hour battery, offering up to 185 miles of range.

For those looking for more performance, higher trims bring up to 222 horsepower paired with a 52 kilowatt-hour battery. In its most powerful form, the Raval VZ can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 7.0 seconds, which is impressive for a car in this category. However, increased performance slightly reduces range to around 250 miles.

Cupra also made sure the driving experience matches the sporty design. The VZ version features upgraded suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, and adaptive dampers, making it more engaging on twisty roads while still comfortable in the city.

Positioned as the most affordable model in the lineup, the Raval is expected to start at around $30,355. It will be built in Barcelona and is set to hit European markets soon. Unfortunately, it is not planned for the United States, which is a bit disappointing considering how unique it is in today’s electric vehicle market.
