New 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland Edition Revealed

New 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland Edition Revealed

The 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander is expanding its personality with the arrival of the new Woodland Edition, giving Toyota’s spacious 3 row sport utility vehicle a more adventurous side. Instead of trying to turn the Grand Highlander into a hardcore off road vehicle, Toyota has focused on useful upgrades that should make family road trips and outdoor adventures easier.

The 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid Woodland Edition comes standard with a 2.5 liter hybrid powertrain and all wheel drive. The system produces 245 total horsepower, while Toyota estimates fuel economy at 34 miles per gallon combined.

One of the most noticeable changes is underneath the vehicle. Toyota adds 0.5 inch of additional ground clearance through taller springs and all terrain tires. Those tires are fitted to matte black 18 inch alloy wheels, giving the Woodland Edition a tougher appearance than the regular Grand Highlander.

The exterior also receives black badges, black mirror caps, roof rails with cross bars, dark trim around the headlights and windows, light emitting diode fog lamps, mud guards and a tow hitch.

Toyota has included some clever features inside as well. Between the 2nd row captain’s chairs is a removable Woodland branded console cooler capable of holding up to 6 12 ounce cans. Owners also get all weather floor mats, a heated steering wheel and a 120 volt, 1,500 watt power outlet.

The rear cargo area receives enhanced lighting and a Woodland branded cargo tray with pop up dividers, which can help keep smaller items from sliding around.

The rest of the 2027 Grand Highlander lineup continues with 3 different powertrain choices. The 2.4 liter turbocharged gasoline engine produces 265 horsepower, while the 2.5 liter hybrid produces 245 total system horsepower. At the top of the range, the Hybrid MAX delivers 362 total system horsepower.

Towing capacity reaches 3,500 pounds with the hybrid powertrain and 5,000 pounds with gasoline and Hybrid MAX models. Depending on the configuration, buyers can choose front wheel drive or different all wheel drive systems.

The Grand Highlander continues to emphasize interior space. Seating is available for up to 8 passengers, and the adult sized 3rd row provides 33.5 inches of legroom and 37.2 inches of headroom. Fold the rear seats and cargo capacity expands to 97.5 cubic feet. Toyota says the vehicle can still accommodate 7 carry on suitcases with all 3 rows in use.

Every 2027 Grand Highlander includes a standard 12.3 inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Multiple universal serial bus type C charging ports are available throughout the cabin, while Limited and Platinum models receive an 11 speaker JBL premium audio system.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is also standard across the lineup, bringing features including a Pre Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams and Proactive Driving Assist.

There are additional changes for 2027. The Hybrid MAX Platinum receives more black exterior trim, including its grille mesh, hood trim, roof rails, window trim, mirror caps and shark fin antenna. XLE gasoline and hybrid models now receive a heated steering wheel and 18 inch dark gray wheels as standard equipment. Toyota has also dropped the Hybrid Nightshade Edition and Hybrid MAX Limited for the 2027 model year.

Pricing starts at $42,560 for the gasoline LE with front wheel drive, while the Hybrid LE starts at $45,910 before dealer processing and handling fees. Toyota will continue building the Grand Highlander exclusively in Princeton, Indiana, with 2027 models expected to begin reaching dealerships later in 2026.

For families who liked the Grand Highlander’s space but wanted something with a little more outdoor character, the Woodland Edition could be an interesting addition. The combination of standard all wheel drive, all terrain tires, extra ground clearance and practical accessories gives the Grand Highlander more versatility without sacrificing the comfort and efficiency that remain at the heart of the vehicle.
