New 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A Revealed

Jeep is reaching deep into its history with the 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A, a special model inspired by one of the most important vehicles in the brand’s past. Arriving more than 80 years after the Willys CJ-2A entered civilian life, the new Wrangler combines classic styling details with the capability and technology expected from a modern Jeep.

The story goes back to July 1945. After proving itself during wartime service, the basic formula behind the military Willys MB was adapted for everyday civilian use. The result was the Willys CJ-2A, with CJ standing for Civilian Jeep. Built in Toledo, Ohio, it became a practical machine for farms, ranches, factories and other demanding jobs.

The 2027 Wrangler JL-2A brings some of that personality back. Gobi is featured on the 2-door model and takes inspiration from the Harvest Tan color offered on the original CJ-2A. The 4-door can be finished in ’41, while Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost and Joose are also available.

One of the most noticeable details is the exclusive set of 17-inch retro-style wheels finished in Joose. Their color recalls the Sunset Red wheels available on the original Jeep, while modern 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires give the Wrangler a much tougher stance. Orange front and rear tow hooks, body-color fender flares and a matching 3-piece hardtop complete the exterior treatment.

Jeep has also given the cabin a distinctive heritage-inspired appearance. Nappa Heritage Tan leather covers the seats, while Bison Brown appears across areas of the doors, instrument panel and center console. Desert Orange stitching ties the interior visually to the brightly colored wheels and exterior details.

Smaller touches tell even more of the story. A Willys-Overland satin chrome shifter medallion, heritage-inspired climate vent graphics and a special rear swing gate plaque reference the original CJ-2A. The plaque even recreates artwork inspired by the original dashboard data plate and its agricultural and industrial roots.

Modern equipment has not been forgotten. The JL-2A includes remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, universal garage door opener and a front TrailCam with an integrated washer.

The 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A will become available to order in October. Its special package carries a manufacturer suggested retail price of $4,995, placing it just $115 above a similarly equipped Wrangler Rubicon. For Jeep fans who appreciate the earliest civilian models, the JL-2A brings an 80-year-old idea back to life in a distinctly modern way.
