New 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Has a Big Surprise
The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk has officially arrived, bringing serious off road hardware to Jeep’s latest hybrid sport utility vehicle. Instead of simply giving the Cherokee a tougher appearance, Jeep has made meaningful mechanical changes designed for drivers who actually plan to leave the pavement.
Power comes from a 1.6 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine working with a hybrid system to produce a combined 210 horsepower. The Trailhawk is estimated to return 31 miles per gallon combined, giving buyers an interesting combination of fuel efficiency and genuine trail capability.
The biggest changes are underneath. The Cherokee Trailhawk receives Jeep Active Drive II, a 2 speed power transfer unit with a 2.92 low range ratio, and an electronic locking rear axle. The setup provides a 37.5:1 crawl ratio for tackling steep and loose terrain. Drivers also get 5 Selec Terrain settings covering Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand and Mud, and Rock.
Jeep raises the Trailhawk by 1 inch, bringing ground clearance to 9 inches. It rides on 17 inch wheels wrapped in 245/65R17 Nexen Roadian ATX all terrain tires. Steel skid plates protect important components, including the hybrid battery.
Off road geometry is equally impressive, with a 28.8 degree approach angle, 21.9 degree breakover angle, and 31.8 degree departure angle. Jeep also rates the Trailhawk for water crossings up to 24 inches deep.
The exterior gets the familiar Trailhawk treatment with red tow hooks, unique front and rear fascias, a black hood graphic, and a more aggressive stance. Inside, Mantis Green upholstery, red stitching, and Trailhawk specific details separate it from the regular Cherokee.
Pricing starts at $44,625 including the $1,995 destination charge. Production begins later in 2026, and Jeep says customers can place orders now.
The new Cherokee Trailhawk is an unusual combination: a fuel efficient hybrid designed to handle daily driving while still carrying the hardware needed for serious adventures away from pavement.
