National Mustang Day 2016 At Ford WHQ

National Mustang Day 2016 At Ford WHQ

DEARBORN, MI – Ford fans around the world celebrated “National Mustang Day” on April 17th, which is already a special day for Pony Car owners because it is the “official” birthdate of the Ford Mustang. Indeed, Mustang has been loved ever since it was first shown to the public at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. Today, the goal of National Mustang Day is to unite all Mustang enthusiasts by having owners around the world drive their Mustang or hold a Mustang event every year on that day. Perhaps one of the most memorable of those events for 2016 was organized by one of the Detroit area’s most notable clubs, the Shelby American Automobile Club – Motor City Region (or, SAAC-MCR as locals call it). SAAC-MCR invited the Mustang Owners Club of SouthEastern Michigan (MOCSEM) to join them in a National Mustang Day Cruise on a sunny Sunday that began with a gathering (where else?) in front of the Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, MI. After 133 attendees and some 80 cars participated in a cool photo opp in front of the iconic Ford “Glass House” and received their “National Mustang Day 2016” decals from Ford Performance, they were off to cruise down nearby Telegraph Road to visit Mike Berardi’s private Mustang collection and have lunch. From there they headed off down I-75 to Mustang’s home at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant for one last photo-opp in front of FRAP before the ponies were set free for the afternoon. For a report by the club’s own Bill Cook and Steve White, visit the SAAC-MCR club website. Ford Performance was given exclusive access to club event photos taken by Bill Cook, Rich Tweedle and Ed Ludtke to share with you below. Our thanks to SAAC-MCR for some cool “insider” pics from a great event:
