MINI Cooper Paul Smith Edition Secret Reveal in Milan
MINI has once again teamed up with Paul Smith to create something that goes beyond just a car. This time, the collaboration takes center stage at Salone del Mobile 2026, where both brands bring their shared sense of creativity and optimism into a fully immersive experience. The result is an installation called “A Garden of Curiosity,” set inside the historic Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda in Milan.
From the moment visitors step into the courtyard, the experience feels different. A simple wooden bridge leads to a bold red door, almost like a signal that what is ahead is not just another display. Once inside, the space opens into a carefully designed garden filled with greenery, pathways, and artistic structures. Every detail feels intentional, blending MINI’s precision with Paul Smith’s playful use of color. It is not just something to look at, it is something to feel.
One of the standout elements is the way the installation engages multiple senses. The Color Theory Room invites visitors to experiment with different shades and combinations, creating a constantly evolving visual wall shaped by everyone who interacts with it. It is a simple idea, but it reflects Paul Smith’s long standing approach to design—making creativity accessible and personal. Nearby, the Listening Room adds another layer, where visitors hear Paul Smith himself talking about color and design, making the experience more intimate.
Hidden within this creative space is a special highlight: the MINI Cooper Convertible Paul Smith Edition. It is not placed front and center like a typical auto show reveal. Instead, it feels like something you discover, which makes the moment more memorable. The car carries subtle design touches, including the unique Nottingham Green accents and signature details that reflect Paul Smith’s signature style without overwhelming the classic MINI identity.
As visitors move through the courtyard, they also get a glimpse of the history behind this partnership. Several cars from past collaborations are displayed, including a one off MINI from 1999 covered in 86 stripes across 26 colors, and the minimalist MINI STRIP concept from 2021. These models show how the collaboration has evolved, from bold artistic expression to a more refined and thoughtful design approach.
What stands out the most is how natural the partnership feels. Both MINI and Paul Smith share a similar mindset—focused on individuality, creativity, and pushing boundaries without losing their identity. This installation does not just showcase a car or a designer. It tells a story about how design can be fun, engaging, and meaningful at the same time.
The installation will be open from 21 to 26 April 2026, giving visitors a chance to experience a different side of automotive design—one that is less about specifications and more about emotion, curiosity, and imagination.
