Land Rover’s Ultimate Beast? Meet the Defender OCTA Black
The most rugged, powerful, and luxurious Defender has just taken on an even more intense personality. Say hello to the Defender OCTA Black – a bold, all-black version of the high-performance off-road beast. Land Rover has taken everything enthusiasts love about the Defender OCTA and dialed up the visual drama to match its muscular capabilities.
The new OCTA Black model is drenched in Narvik Black, which is the darkest and most striking color in the Defender lineup. It comes with a glossy finish by default, but for those who want something even more unique, there is an optional Matte Protective Film that adds a stealthy edge. Nearly every surface has received a blackout makeover – over 30 exterior elements now wear black finishes.
Details like the front undershield, rear scuff plates, and exposed recovery eyes come in Satin Black Powder Coat. At the same time, a Gloss Black tow eye cover and quad exhaust tips add some contrast and shine. Even subtle elements underneath the vehicle, such as the exhaust silencer cover and the optional deployable towbar, get blacked out. It is not just for looks – this Defender means business.
You can choose between 20-inch forged wheels or large 22-inch Gloss Black wheels, both featuring black center caps and Shadow Atlas Defender branding. Gloss Black brake calipers finish the look, accented with Sentient Silver script for contrast.
Inside the cabin, the theme of tough luxury continues. For the first time, Defender introduces Ebony Semi-Aniline Leather paired with Kvadrat textile, a material known for its premium feel and durability. The Performance Seats feature new perforation patterns and stitching details, with the seat backs and armrest hinges dressed in Carpathian Grey. Even the dashboard gets its share of attention, with a Cross Car Beam in Satin Black Powder Coat and optional Chopped Carbon Fibre detailing for an added sense of rugged refinement.
What makes the Defender OCTA a true standout is not just the styling – it is the performance. Under the hood, you get a 4.4-liter Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 producing 635 horsepower. It is paired with 6D Dynamics suspension, allowing this SUV to conquer just about any terrain while keeping passengers comfortable. And when the trail gets tough, a dedicated OCTA Mode kicks in, fine-tuning the system for performance off-road driving.
To take things further, Land Rover has integrated Body and Soul Seats (BASS), which use high-fidelity vibro-acoustic technology to make you feel your music, not just hear it. Developed with SUBPAC and powered by a 700-watt, 15-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System, the setup creates a fully immersive experience in the front seats.
The Defender OCTA Black also benefits from the latest enhancements across the Defender lineup, including sharper headlight designs with updated graphics, smoked flush rear lights, and a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen with more intuitive controls.
In addition to OCTA Black, the standard Defender OCTA now comes in two new colors – Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey – adding to the existing palette of Charente Grey and Petra Copper. A Patagonia White Matte Wrap will become available later in 2025.
To top it all off, Defender has been chosen as the official automotive partner for Oasis Live 2025. This all-black off-road legend will be accompanying the iconic British band on their 41-date world tour, starting in the United Kingdom.
