Lamborghini Keeps Hinting at a Temerario Sterrato
Lamborghini may not be finished with the Sterrato idea just yet. After the Huracán Sterrato proved that a supercar could be just as entertaining away from smooth pavement, company executives are now leaving the possibility open for a similar version of the new Lamborghini Temerario.
Lamborghini Product Line Director Paolo Racchetti recently suggested that another Sterrato could happen, although he stopped short of confirming that such a model is currently in development. His comments follow previous hints from Lamborghini executives that the success of the Huracán Sterrato has given the company a reason to consider bringing the concept back.
The Temerario could provide an interesting foundation. Replacing the Huracán, Lamborghini’s new supercar uses a plug-in hybrid system combining a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with 3 electric motors. Together, the system produces 920 horsepower. Lamborghini says the Temerario can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 213 miles per hour.
Turning that performance machine into a Sterrato would likely involve much more than adding aggressive tires. The previous Huracán Sterrato received 44 millimeters of additional ground clearance compared with the Huracán Evo, along with a wider track, underbody protection, and a Rally driving mode.
A Temerario Sterrato could follow the same basic formula with increased ride height, protective body components, revised suspension settings, and tires better suited for loose surfaces. Combined with the Temerario’s electrified all-wheel-drive system and enormous power, it could become one of Lamborghini’s most unusual models.
Nothing has been officially announced, so for now the Temerario Sterrato remains a possibility rather than a confirmed production car. But Lamborghini executives continue to mention the idea, and that alone should keep enthusiasts watching closely.
