Jaguar Teases Massive Electric GT With 1,000 Horsepower and 400 Mile Range
Jaguar is still deep into its transformation era, and more than a year after the bold Type 00 concept shocked the internet, the brand is slowly pulling back the curtain on what comes next. While the original concept has not yet reached production, Jaguar is clearly not standing still. New teaser images show the upcoming electric grand tourer pushing through extreme cold weather testing in the Arctic Circle, with temperatures dropping as low as 40 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. The message is clear: this is not just a design statement, it is a serious performance machine being engineered for real world conditions.
Even under heavy camouflage, some of the car’s most unconventional decisions are now confirmed. Jaguar has stated that the production model will not feature a rear window, a move that immediately puts it in the same conversation as the Polestar 5. Instead, the focus is on a massive glass roof that stretches from the front to the rear of the cabin, designed to flood the interior with natural light. This helps offset concerns created by the small side windows and the absence of rear glass, while also reinforcing the futuristic grand tourer identity.
Size plays a major role in this car’s presence. At more than 204.7 inches long, it sits in the same physical territory as the Mercedes EQS. The dedicated electric vehicle platform allows for an enormous 126 inch wheelbase, giving the car dramatic proportions while keeping overall height surprisingly low at just 55 inches. Despite the typical packaging challenges of electric vehicles, Jaguar has managed to keep this grand tourer sleek and planted rather than tall and bulky.
From the factory, the car will ride on 23 inch wheels with bespoke tires, including winter options developed with Pirelli. Front tires measure 255 by 35, while the rear steps up to 295 by 30, reinforcing the car’s performance focused stance. For markets with rougher roads, smaller 21 inch wheels will be offered as an alternative. Rear wheel steering adds another layer of sophistication, allowing up to 6 degrees of movement that shrinks the turning circle to just 37.7 feet, nearly matching the much smaller XE sedan.
Under the skin, Jaguar is promising something truly special. A tri motor electric setup delivers more than 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 pound feet of torque, combining a single motor up front with a pair of motors at the rear. Power comes from a battery with a usable capacity of around 120 kilowatt hours. Jaguar estimates a range of more than 400 miles on the EPA cycle, and up to 430 miles under WLTP testing. The company has also made it clear that there will be no range extended version using a gasoline engine, keeping this car fully electric in both spirit and execution.
Selectable drive modes, air suspension with active twin valve dampers, and advanced torque vectoring are all part of the package. Jaguar claims this grand tourer will drive like no other electric car on the road, a bold statement that suggests the brand is aiming to redefine what an electric luxury performance vehicle should feel like. With a full reveal expected in late summer, Jaguar’s electric reboot is finally starting to feel real.
