Honda Ends Civic Type R in Europe With Carbon Wing, Special Gifts

Honda is closing the chapter on the Civic Type R in Europe with a special farewell called the Ultimate Edition. This is more than just a goodbye—it is a final celebration for one of the most iconic hot hatches on the market. Production is ending in 2025, and Honda is giving European fans a last chance to own the performance legend in a unique and memorable form.

The Ultimate Edition comes in one bold color—Championship White. To add some flair, red stripes run along the hood and sides, while the roof is finished in black for a sharper contrast. A carbon fiber rear wing gives the car more aggression, while inside, there are matching carbon fiber door sills and a center console. Red floor mats with a metal Type R badge add even more exclusivity, and to top it off, the front doors project a red and white Type R logo onto the ground when opened.

Buyers also get a special gift box containing a carbon key ring, a numbered badge, and a branded car cover. Mechanically, nothing has changed. It still features a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine making 324 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. That is enough to rocket the car from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 5.4 seconds.

So why is the Civic Type R being pulled from Europe? Honda says stricter emissions rules are forcing their hand. Hannah Swift, who leads Honda’s European product strategy, explained that evolving regulations are pushing the company to rethink its lineup.

Prices for the Ultimate Edition have not been announced yet. However, taxes on high-emission cars in Europe are steep. In the Netherlands, for instance, the Civic Type R already costs more than $100,000.

As this chapter ends, Honda promises something new: the return of the Prelude as a 2+2 hybrid coupe arriving in the first half of 2026. It might not be as raw and involving, but it aims to keep Honda’s performance spirit alive.
