Genesis Magma GT Is the 800 HP Supercar Nobody Expected

Genesis is moving into serious supercar territory with the Magma GT, a dramatic 2-seat performance machine designed to become the ultimate expression of the brand’s growing Magma lineup. Unlike performance versions of existing Genesis models, the Magma GT was created from the beginning as a dedicated sports car.

One of the biggest surprises is what sits behind the passenger compartment. Genesis says the Magma GT uses a twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing up to 800 horsepower. Combined with its mid-rear-engine layout, the car represents a major change for a company better known for luxury sedans and sport utility vehicles.

The design makes that performance intent immediately clear. The Magma GT sits extremely low and wide, with a sharply sculpted front end, a narrow cabin and muscular rear bodywork. Genesis has also incorporated aerodynamic features throughout the exterior rather than simply adding oversized wings. Airflow management is integrated into the body, while the familiar Genesis 2-line lighting signature gives the car a recognizable identity.

Genesis originally unveiled the Magma GT Concept at Circuit Paul Ricard in France in November 2025. An updated version was later shown at Le Mans in June 2026, bringing additional exterior refinements and an entirely new interior.

Inside, Genesis has taken a refreshingly driver-focused approach. Instead of filling the dashboard with enormous digital displays, the cabin combines a twin-cockpit layout with tactile controls and an analog instrument cluster inspired by motorsport timekeeping. The result is an interior designed to make the driver feel connected to the machine.

The Magma GT is also intended to serve as a halo model for Genesis and help define the company’s performance direction for the next decade. Genesis describes its philosophy as effortless performance, suggesting the goal is not simply extreme speed but a car that feels composed, predictable and rewarding to drive.

There are still major unanswered questions. Genesis has not announced final production specifications, pricing, acceleration figures, top speed or an official release date. The company continues to identify the Magma GT as a concept.

Even so, an 800-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 Genesis supercar sends a very clear message. Genesis is no longer interested in simply adding more power to luxury vehicles. The Magma GT shows just how ambitious the company’s performance plans have become.
