Future Mitsubishi Triton Pickup Truck Could Borrow the New Pajero’s Design

Future Mitsubishi Triton Pickup Truck Could Borrow the New Pajero’s Design

Mitsubishi could be preparing to give the Triton a tougher and more premium appearance, and the newly revealed 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero may provide a strong preview of where the pickup could go next.

The current Triton already has a bold personality, but a future facelift could bring its styling closer to Mitsubishi’s newest flagship sport utility vehicle. The biggest changes would likely happen at the front, where the Triton could adopt a cleaner interpretation of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design. A wider grille, slimmer upper lighting elements, vertically arranged lamps and a more substantial lower bumper could give the truck a stronger family resemblance to the 2027 Pajero.

That combination works surprisingly well on a pickup. The Triton already has the tall hood, wide stance and squared wheel arches needed to carry the Pajero’s more substantial face without looking oversized. Rather than completely redesigning the truck, Mitsubishi could concentrate on the grille, headlights, bumper and surrounding trim while keeping most of the existing body intact.

The rear could receive a similar treatment. Pajero inspired vertical light signatures, a horizontal lighting element across the tailgate and cleaner bumper detailing could modernize the Triton while maintaining its practical pickup design. Small changes to the wheels, exterior trim and available colors could complete the transformation.

There is also a practical reason for Mitsubishi to bring these vehicles closer together. The Triton and Pajero are closely related body on frame vehicles, making a stronger visual connection between them a natural move. The Pajero can represent the more upscale side of the family, while the Triton continues to focus on utility, towing and off road capability.

Mitsubishi has not confirmed that a facelifted Triton will receive the Pajero’s exact styling. For now, this remains a look at what such an update could resemble. Still, with the Pajero establishing Mitsubishi’s latest rugged design direction, borrowing some of its visual character for the Triton could give the pickup a fresh look without taking away what already makes it recognizable.
