Ferrari Luce Launches in China and Sells Out Instantly
Ferrari has officially introduced the Luce to the Chinese market, and the launch is already making headlines. After months of speculation and debate over its styling, the Italian brand’s first fully electric production model appears to have found plenty of buyers. During its debut in Shanghai, Ferrari revealed that the first allocation of 88 vehicles reserved for China was spoken for almost immediately, proving that demand remains strong among luxury performance car customers.
The Luce represents a major turning point for Ferrari. Rather than creating another traditional 2-seat supercar, the company developed a practical 4-door grand touring model that combines everyday usability with the performance expected from the famous Prancing Horse badge. It offers seating for 5 passengers while still delivering acceleration and handling designed to satisfy enthusiasts.
Power comes from a quad-motor electric drivetrain producing around 1,050 horsepower. Ferrari says the Luce can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in approximately 2.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 310 kilometers per hour. A large 122 kilowatt-hour battery provides an estimated driving range of about 530 kilometers under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure standard, while 350 kilowatt fast charging helps reduce charging times.
China has become one of the world’s most competitive electric vehicle markets, with domestic manufacturers introducing increasingly advanced luxury models. Ferrari clearly recognizes that attracting younger buyers interested in premium electric technology will be critical for the company’s future success. Pricing reflects the vehicle’s exclusive positioning, beginning at 3,988,000 yuan, or roughly $586,600.
While opinions about the exterior design continue to vary, early customer demand suggests many buyers are placing greater value on Ferrari’s engineering, performance, and exclusivity than on internet criticism. The strong response also demonstrates that Ferrari’s reputation remains incredibly powerful, even as the company enters an entirely new era of electrification. If the Luce continues to attract buyers at this pace, it could become one of Ferrari’s most significant launches in recent history and reshape expectations for high-performance electric luxury vehicles.
