Dodge Finally Brings Back The Supercharged Hemi

Dodge enthusiasts finally have the confirmation they have been waiting for. After months of speculation, Dodge has officially confirmed that a new Hellcat-powered Charger is on the way, bringing back the supercharged V8 engine that helped define the modern muscle car era.

The announcement answers one of the biggest questions surrounding the future of the Charger lineup. Dodge already sells electric Charger Daytona models and Hurricane-powered Charger Sixpack models, but many enthusiasts continued to wonder whether a Hemi-powered model would return. Now Dodge has made it official.

According to Dodge, the upcoming Charger Hellcat will feature a supercharged V8 producing more than 700 horsepower. While final specifications have not yet been announced, many believe the car will use the same supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 currently found in the revived Ram TRX and Ram Rumble Bee. In those trucks, the engine produces 777 horsepower, making it a likely candidate for the new Charger.

Recent information has also provided clues about the vehicle’s appearance. Journalists who reportedly saw the vehicle described a much more aggressive Charger featuring a prominent hood scoop, SRT badging, and a massive rear wing. During Stellantis Investor Day, the company also showed an image of future products headed to the United States market, including a Dodge vehicle hidden under a cover that appeared to feature a large wing extending beyond the rear of the car.

Our concepts combine the styling of the current Charger Daytona with a larger hood scoop, wider bodywork, an aggressive front fascia, and a race-inspired rear wing that pays tribute to Dodge’s performance heritage.

Performance fans are already wondering whether Dodge could go even further. The previous Charger Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak produced up to 807 horsepower, and it would not be surprising to see Dodge introduce a higher-output version after the standard Hellcat arrives. For now, Dodge has only confirmed that the new Hellcat will produce more than 700 horsepower.

Many questions still remain unanswered. Dodge has not announced pricing, performance figures, production timing, or whether additional V8-powered Charger models will join the lineup.
