DAMD Reverb: The Retro Jeep You Never Saw Coming (Built from a Honda)

DAMD Reverb: The Retro Jeep You Never Saw Coming (Built from a Honda)

DAMD has once again brought its creative magic to life, this time taking the compact Honda WR-V and transforming it into a mini tribute to the legendary Jeep Cherokee XJ. While it may not crawl over boulders or rip through muddy trails, the result is a charming blend of urban practicality and rugged nostalgia.

Known for turning small vehicles into eye-catching head-turners, the Japanese tuner gave the WR-V a bold new face and named it the DAMD Reverb. Originally revealed as a prototype at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, it gathered so much attention that the company decided to produce it. Now it is officially available, with additional accessories coming soon.

The most noticeable change is up front. The Reverb wears a classic, boxy seven-slot grille reminiscent of the original Cherokee. The square headlights, amber indicators, and faux aluminum bumper trim complete the retro effect. Despite the new face, it still rides on the same WR-V platform, including front-wheel drive and a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 119 horsepower.

DAMD gave it a bit more flair with a wood-style side decal that adds American SUV flavor, while 16-inch Dean Cross Country wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires help sell the rugged illusion. A mild lift kit increases the ride height by 30 to 35 millimeters, improving the stance without compromising its city-friendly nature.

At the rear, DAMD is working on a trim piece for the taillights that covers the Honda badge and adds unique “Reverb” branding. The cabin remains untouched, but optional checkered seat covers will be available soon, bringing a retro vibe to the interior as well.

Pricing for the full Reverb face kit starts at ¥327,800, which is about $2,300. You can also add LED headlights for ¥26,400 or $180. The optional woodgrain decals are ¥63,800 or $440. Rear details and seat cover pricing are still to be announced. These prices include tax, but installation and shipping will cost extra.

The Honda WR-V itself ranges from ¥2,398,000 to ¥2,580,600, or roughly $16,600 to $17,900. That means even with all the upgrades, you can stay under the price of many retro-styled SUVs. So, if you are looking for something nostalgic but still practical for daily life, the Reverb could be the right mix.
