Dacia Striker Debuts With Hybrid Power and Rugged Wagon Design
Renault has revealed an ambitious product strategy that stretches into the end of the decade. As part of the company’s new “futuREady” roadmap, the French automaker plans to introduce 36 new vehicles by 2030. Many of these upcoming models will carry the familiar Renault diamond badge, while others will fall under the performance-focused Alpine brand. Renault’s budget-oriented partner Dacia is also included in the plan, and one of its most interesting new vehicles is already generating attention: the all-new Striker.
The Striker marks only the second compact car ever introduced by Dacia, following the larger Bigster sport utility vehicle. However, instead of following the current industry trend toward crossovers and sport utility vehicles, Dacia has taken a different approach. The Striker is a wagon designed for drivers who still appreciate the practicality and driving feel of a traditional long roof vehicle.
In many ways, the model fills a gap left behind when rugged wagons such as the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack and the Skoda Octavia Scout disappeared from the market. With generous ground clearance and protective body cladding, the Striker combines the practicality of a wagon with the durability often associated with crossovers. It is designed for drivers who want extra versatility without fully committing to a sport utility vehicle.
The new Dacia measures 4.62 meters, or 181.8 inches, in length, making it slightly longer than the Bigster. This extra size should translate into more interior space and greater cargo capacity, two qualities wagon buyers typically value.
Dacia also plans to offer several different powertrain options. One version will feature a hybrid system paired with front wheel drive, while another electrified configuration will include a four wheel drive setup. In certain markets, the company will also offer a combustion engine capable of running on liquefied petroleum gas, providing a lower cost and alternative fuel option for customers.
Affordability remains a core part of Dacia’s identity. The entry level Striker is expected to start below €25,000, which converts to about $29,100. That price positioning could make the vehicle one of the most accessible electrified wagons on the market.
More detailed specifications and final technical information are expected to be revealed in June, when Dacia plans to fully introduce the Striker to the public.
