Corvette ZR1X vs ZR1 Performance Comparison
The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X represent the most extreme performance leap the Corvette name has ever taken. These are not just faster Corvettes. They are genuine hypercar challengers built with very different philosophies, yet aimed at the same goal: absolute speed.
The ZR1 stays loyal to purist performance. Power comes from a twin turbocharged 5.5 liter flat plane crank V8 producing 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound feet of torque. That power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an 8 speed dual clutch transmission. Chevrolet focused on raw mechanical grip, massive aerodynamics, and driver engagement. The result is a 0 to 60 time of about 2.3 seconds, a quarter mile run in roughly 9.6 seconds at around 150 miles per hour, and a top speed of 233 miles per hour on track.
The ZR1X takes everything further. It uses the same twin turbocharged V8 but adds a front mounted electric drive unit, creating an electrified all wheel drive system. Combined output jumps to approximately 1,250 horsepower. That extra traction completely changes how the car launches and exits corners. On a prepared surface, Chevrolet recorded a 0 to 60 time as quick as 1.68 seconds and a quarter mile pass of 8.675 seconds at 159 miles per hour. Top speed remains 233 miles per hour, but the way it gets there is dramatically different.
Where the comparison becomes truly fascinating is at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The rear wheel drive ZR1 completed a lap in 6 minutes and 50.763 seconds. The ZR1X, with its hybrid all wheel drive setup, went even faster with a 6 minute and 49.275 second lap. That makes both cars quicker than many established European hypercars, and the ZR1X now stands as the fastest production Corvette to ever lap the Ring.
Pricing reflects the difference in complexity. The ZR1 starts at around $185,000, while the ZR1X begins near $209,700. Neither is inexpensive, but when you compare performance per dollar, both rewrite expectations.
