The company has confirmed pricing and specifications for both the Seal 6 Sedan and the more practical Seal 6 Touring, giving buyers another alternative to the growing number of sport utility vehicles on the road.

The launch is another sign that BYD is widening its appeal beyond electric vehicles alone. Plug in hybrid technology remains an attractive choice for drivers who want the benefits of electric driving during daily commutes without worrying about charging on longer trips. With the latest generation of its Dual Mode 5.0 Super Hybrid system, BYD believes it has found the right balance between efficiency, performance, and practicality.

Australian buyers can choose between the Seal 6 Sedan Essential and the Seal 6 Touring Premium. The sedan starts at AUD 34,990 before on road costs, while the Touring begins at AUD 39,990. Those prices make the new models competitive against many traditional gasoline powered sedans and wagons while offering significantly lower fuel consumption.

According to BYD Australia, the Seal 6 lineup is designed for customers who still appreciate the comfort and driving experience of a conventional sedan or wagon. The Seal 6 Sedan Essential produces a combined 130 kilowatts, or 174 horsepower, while the Seal 6 Touring Premium benefits from a larger battery pack and delivers up to 163 kilowatts, or 219 horsepower. That extra output gives the Touring stronger acceleration while maintaining the same efficiency focused philosophy.
