BMW Just Revealed the 2027 i3 M60
BMW has added another performance model to its expanding electric lineup with the introduction of the 2027 BMW i3 M60. Positioned above the i3 50 xDrive, the new sedan brings BMW M Performance treatment to the electric 3 Series family and gives buyers a preview of what a more aggressive electric BMW sports sedan can look like.
BMW has not revealed the final horsepower figure yet, but the company describes the i3 M60 as an “ultra potent” model. It uses 2 electric motors and all wheel drive, meaning output should comfortably exceed the 463 horsepower and 475 pound feet of torque produced by the i3 50 xDrive.
That additional performance should also make the i3 M60 noticeably quicker. The standard i3 50 xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 124 miles per hour. BMW has not announced equivalent figures for the M60, leaving some of the most interesting specifications for a later date.
Visually, BMW is already showing how much more aggressive the i3 M60 can become. The car can be fitted with M Performance Parts, including several carbon fiber components that give the electric sedan a sharper and more purposeful appearance.
Range figures have not been announced either. The i3 50 xDrive is estimated by BMW to deliver between 446 and 468 miles using the United States Environmental Protection Agency testing procedure, while the European Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure figure reaches as high as 567 miles. The more performance focused i3 M60 could sacrifice some efficiency in exchange for additional power.
Pricing remains another mystery. The 2027 BMW i3 50 xDrive starts at $62,850 including destination charges, while the new M350 xDrive starts at $67,250. The i3 M60 is expected to sit above these models when it reaches the market.
And BMW is not stopping there. A full BMW M electric sports sedan is also on the way, with reports pointing toward a 4 motor powertrain and simulated gear changes. For now, however, the i3 M60 represents an important bridge between the regular electric i3 and BMW M’s upcoming dedicated electric performance machine.
