71 year old man crashes McLaren MP4-12C at 150mph – Video

The McLaren MP4-12C was being driven by a not so mature 71-year-old man, who was reportedly going 150 mph (240 km/h) when he lost control of the supercar. Fortunately, all the engineering invested in both the guardrail and the McLaren paid out, with the man escaping the accident with just a cut on one of his arms.

The McLaren MP4-12C went into the guardrail and to get an idea of just how difficult it is to slow down from that kind of speed when you’re going that fast and you have an accident, the protection element on the side of the highway was damaged in 26 places.

The parts of the car resulted from the accident spread over a length of a quarter mile (400 meters). The A95 highway where the accident took place was closed for two and a half hours in order for the McLaren MP4-12C to be removed and the road to be cleared, with the latter operation being a painstaking one.

As you can see in the photos, the carbon fiber tub of the McLaren MP4-12C did its job well, which explains why the driver was able to walk away from the massive accident. As for the supercar, while we don’t have the list of parts that can be salvaged, it’s obvious this car is a total lose.
