6:55 Lap! Taycan Turbo GT Manthey Just Changed Everything

The story around the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT just took another serious turn, and it is the kind of update that makes even seasoned car enthusiasts stop and pay attention. On paper, this car was already pushing the limits of what an electric sedan could do. But once Manthey Racing stepped in, it became something else entirely.

There is a certain expectation when you hear the name Manthey. It usually means the car is about to get sharper, faster, and far more focused on track performance. That is exactly what happened here. The Taycan Turbo GT, already equipped with the Weissach package, went back to the Nürburgring and completely rewrote its own benchmark. The result was a stunning 6:55.533 lap time, cutting a full 12 seconds off its previous run.

That kind of improvement is not small. At this level, shaving even a second off a lap is a big deal. Dropping 12 seconds shows just how deep the changes go.

A lot of that performance comes down to aerodynamics. Manthey did not just tweak things slightly, they transformed how the car interacts with the air. Downforce has been significantly increased, and at top speed, which reaches 192 miles per hour, the car generates 1631 pounds of negative lift. That means more grip, more confidence, and more stability when pushing hard through high speed corners.

Visually, the upgrades are just as aggressive as the performance gains. A larger front lip, extended side skirts, and carbon fiber fender flares all give the car a more planted stance. Around the back, the massive rear wing stands out immediately, paired with revised diffusers and underbody enhancements that all work together to improve airflow.

The wheels are another key detail. Manthey’s signature aerodisc design is not just for looks. The forged 21 inch setup is both wider and lighter, helping reduce unsprung weight while increasing grip. Add in the option of street legal track tires, and you start to see how serious this package really is.

Braking performance has also been upgraded, with larger front rotors and improved brake pads. Combined with a retuned Active Ride suspension system, as well as adjustments to the steering and all wheel drive setup, the car feels more precise and controlled when driven at the limit.

Even though the Taycan Turbo GT is already extremely powerful, the dual motor system has been refined further. The pulse inverter now delivers up to 1300 amps, increasing efficiency and responsiveness. In Launch mode, output remains at 1019 horsepower, but torque climbs to 936 pound feet. Other driving modes benefit as well, with higher power figures across the board.

Behind the wheel for the record run was Lars Kern, a driver who knows the Nürburgring inside and out. That experience clearly paid off, as he was able to extract every bit of performance from the car.

What makes this even more interesting is the competition. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra with its track package had set a strong time of 7:04.957, but the Manthey enhanced Taycan has now taken the top spot. It is a reminder that the electric performance race is moving incredibly fast, and brands are not holding back.

Pricing for the Manthey package has not been confirmed yet, but considering the base Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach already starts at 245950 dollars, it is safe to assume this will sit even higher. For buyers chasing the ultimate electric track capable sedan, though, that extra cost may be exactly what they are looking for.
