2028 Lexus RX Morizo RR Rendered With 600 HP

Lexus could be preparing to take the RX into territory it has never entered before. Recent prototype sightings point toward a much more aggressive performance version of the luxury crossover, potentially carrying the Lexus RX Morizo RR name and arriving with around 600 horsepower.

The prototype already shows several clues that this is more than a normal RX. Wider wheel arch extensions accommodate substantially wider wheels, including rear tires measuring 295 millimeters. Red brake calipers, multi spoke wheels, and a noticeably lower ride height further suggest that Lexus is developing an RX focused heavily on performance.

The production model could become even more aggressive. While the prototype still uses familiar RX bumpers, a finished Morizo RR could receive larger front air intakes and a redesigned rear bumper incorporating a diffuser. Two round exhaust outlets have also been spotted beneath the prototype.

The biggest story, however, could be underneath the body. Preliminary information suggests Lexus may use a new 2.0 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine combined with 2 electric motors. Total output could reach approximately 600 horsepower, compared with 371 horsepower from the current flagship RX.

That would put the Lexus surprisingly close to established performance sport utility vehicles such as the BMW X5 M and Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S.

Nothing has been officially confirmed by Lexus, so the final specifications and even the Morizo RR name remain uncertain. However, if the production model follows the direction suggested by this prototype, Lexus could be preparing its most extreme RX yet, with a possible premiere closer to 2028.
