2027 Tucson XRT PRO World Premiere – Hyundai Gets Serious
Hyundai has officially introduced the all new 2027 Tucson XRT PRO at its World Premiere, giving the popular sport utility vehicle a tougher personality and more genuine capability than the previous XRT models. While the redesigned Tucson already brings major changes inside and out, the XRT PRO stands out as the version aimed at drivers who want to travel beyond paved roads.
The biggest difference is that Hyundai has moved beyond simply giving the Tucson a rugged appearance. The 2027 Tucson XRT PRO comes standard with all wheel drive and receives all terrain tires, front recovery hooks, additional lower body protection and increased ground clearance. Ground clearance rises to 8.3 inches, which is approximately 1.2 inches more than the standard Tucson. Hyundai has also improved the approach and departure angles to make the vehicle better suited for rough terrain.
Another important addition is Smart Terrain Assist. Developed for changing surface conditions, the system is designed to help the Tucson manage traction when drivers encounter more challenging terrain. Combined with the increased ride height and all terrain tires, it gives the XRT PRO a much more serious adventure focused character.
For the United States market, Hyundai is presenting the XRT PRO as part of the Tucson Hybrid lineup. The hybrid powertrain produces 233 horsepower and is paired with all wheel drive. Hyundai has also incorporated its E Traction technology, which can manage torque delivery to improve grip and reduce unwanted wheel slip.
The exterior makes sure the XRT PRO is easy to recognize. Larger protective sections surround the lower body, while rugged bumpers, pronounced wheel arches and unique wheels create a wider and more purposeful appearance. Hyundai has also introduced distinctive finishes and colors, including the eye catching Red Rock Orange shown during the World Premiere.
The changes continue inside. Hyundai has completely redesigned the Tucson cabin with a cleaner horizontal layout and its latest Pleos Connect infotainment system. A 12.9 inch touchscreen is standard, while a much larger 17 inch center display will also be available. Physical controls remain for commonly used functions, which should make the cabin easier to operate while driving.
The new Tucson has grown as well. The North American version measures approximately 185 inches long with a 109.6 inch wheelbase, giving Hyundai additional room to improve passenger comfort and cargo space.
What makes the 2027 Tucson XRT PRO particularly interesting is the direction Hyundai has taken with the XRT name. Instead of creating another Tucson that simply looks ready for adventure, Hyundai has added hardware that can actually help when the pavement ends.
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson and Tucson Hybrid are expected to arrive at United States dealerships in early 2027. Pricing for the new Tucson XRT PRO has not yet been announced, but after its World Premiere, it is already shaping up to be one of the most interesting versions of Hyundai’s completely redesigned sport utility vehicle.
