2027 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Get a Dark New Look

Ram is giving its commercial truck lineup a tougher look for 2027 with the introduction of the new Chassis Cab Night Edition. Offered on the Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 Chassis Cab, the package brings the dark styling already familiar on Ram pickups to trucks designed for demanding commercial work.

The Night Edition will be available on Big Horn and Laramie models in both Regular Cab and Crew Cab configurations. Instead of the traditional chrome-heavy appearance often associated with work trucks, Ram uses black exterior details to create a cleaner and more aggressive look.

On Big Horn models, the package adds black painted wheels, black badging, gloss black grille nostrils, a Sport Performance hood, body color grille surround, body color front bumper, fender flares, and door handles. Front and rear parking sensors are also included. Laramie trucks already receive several body color components and parking sensors as standard equipment, so their Night Edition package focuses on black wheels, black badging, gloss black grille elements, and the sport hood.

Underneath the darker appearance, these remain serious working machines. Buyers can choose a 6.4 liter HEMI V8 producing 375 horsepower and 429 pound feet of torque or a 6.7 liter Cummins turbo diesel inline 6 producing 360 horsepower and a substantial 800 pound feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a TorqueFlite heavy duty 8 speed automatic transmission.

Capability varies by model and configuration, but the numbers become impressive at the top of the range. A Ram 5500 Chassis Cab equipped with the Cummins turbo diesel can tow up to 34,540 pounds, while maximum payload reaches 12,370 pounds with the HEMI V8 configuration.

Ram also designed the chassis specifically with commercial conversions in mind. Multiple frame lengths, 34 inch frame rail spacing, predrilled mounting locations, and flat rear frame surfaces make it easier for businesses to install specialized bodies and equipment.

Technology has not been forgotten either. Available features include adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, trailer braking assistance, a 270 degree camera system, cargo view camera, and extensive truck and trailer tire pressure monitoring.

Pricing for the Night Edition package starts at $1,695 on Laramie models and $2,195 on qualifying Big Horn models. Orders are scheduled to open during the 4th quarter of 2026, with the trucks arriving later in the year.
