2027 Porsche 911 GT4 R First Look

2027 Porsche 911 GT4 R First Look

Porsche is taking a big step forward in customer racing with the introduction of the new 911 GT4 R. For the first time, the company’s global GT4 race car is built on the legendary 911 platform instead of the Cayman, giving teams a more powerful and capable machine for one of the fastest-growing racing categories in the world.

At the heart of the new race car is a naturally aspirated 4.0 liter 6 cylinder boxer engine producing up to 520 horsepower. Under Global Touring 4 regulations, performance can be adjusted through Balance of Performance rules, meaning power output will vary depending on the championship. The engine is paired with a 6 speed sequential racing gearbox featuring paddle shifters, allowing for lightning fast gear changes on the track.

The new model also benefits from wider track dimensions, updated motorsport electronics, adjustable suspension, and improved aerodynamics. Porsche has incorporated natural fiber composite materials into several body panels and cockpit components to reduce weight while maintaining strength. Inside, drivers get a 10.3 inch digital display, integrated data logging, and Global Positioning System support to help analyze every lap.

Porsche says the 911 GT4 R represents the next evolution of its successful customer racing program, which has already produced more than 1,500 Cayman based GT4 race cars since 2016. The new model is expected to make its racing debut during the 2027 season, giving private teams another exciting option built around the unmistakable character of the Porsche 911. For aspiring racers and experienced competitors alike, the new GT4 R brings more performance, more technology, and even more of the iconic 911 driving experience to the race track.
