2027 Mitsubishi Pajero Will Finally be a True Off Road SUV
Mitsubishi is getting ready to bring one of its most respected nameplates back to the market, and the latest teaser confirms this will be much more than a stylish sport utility vehicle. The upcoming Pajero, also known as the Montero in many markets, is being engineered with serious off road capability by using a body on frame platform based on the Triton pickup truck.
A newly released preview gives enthusiasts a look underneath the vehicle, highlighting the rugged ladder frame that will support the new model. This construction has long been favored for vehicles designed to tackle difficult terrain, making it clear that Mitsubishi wants the Pajero to stay true to its off road heritage instead of becoming another road focused crossover.
The new Pajero is also expected to feature Mitsubishi’s advanced Super All Wheel Control system. Combined with multiple terrain settings and low range capability borrowed from the Triton, the new sport utility vehicle should be well prepared for mud, rocks, sand, snow, and other challenging conditions. At the same time, buyers can expect a quieter cabin, higher quality materials, and more family friendly comfort than the pickup truck it is based on.
Mitsubishi has also confirmed that a dedicated off road information display will return. Drivers will be able to monitor useful data such as pitch, roll, altitude, compass direction, and torque distribution while exploring trails, bringing back a feature that many longtime Pajero fans have missed.
The official reveal is expected this fall, with reports pointing to an early September debut. Mitsubishi also appears to have additional Pajero based models planned for the future, signaling that the legendary nameplate is set for a major comeback after several years away from the global spotlight.
