2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Is More Capable Than Expected

Jeep is giving enthusiasts their first real look at the upcoming 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk in action, and the short video makes one thing clear: this version of the Cherokee is being built for more than everyday driving.

The footage shows the Cherokee Trailhawk tackling challenging off-road terrain, including steep climbs, rocky surfaces, loose sand, and sharp descents. Compared with the standard Cherokee, the Trailhawk is expected to receive several upgrades aimed at improving capability away from pavement. These include more aggressive all-terrain tires, additional underbody protection, revised bumpers for improved clearance, and specialized off-road driving technology.

The Cherokee Trailhawk will also carry Jeep’s Trail Rated designation, which signals that capability is a major part of the vehicle’s mission. Prototype vehicles have already been spotted wearing 245/65R17 all-terrain tires, giving the Cherokee a noticeably tougher appearance.

Power is expected to come from the Cherokee’s hybrid system, which combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 2 electric motors. The system produces around 210 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque in the regular Cherokee.

Jeep has not released every specification for the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk yet, but this first action footage provides a promising preview. Instead of simply adding rugged styling, Jeep appears determined to give the new Trailhawk the hardware needed to earn its place in the Cherokee lineup.
