2027 EQS Revealed Bigger Battery New Tech and Design
Mercedes-Benz is making a clear statement with the upcoming 2027 EQS, and it feels like more than just a routine update. This is one of those mid-cycle changes that actually moves the car forward in a meaningful way, both in how it looks and how it performs on a daily basis.
At the center of the update is a larger battery, now rated at 122 kilowatt hours. It may not sound like a massive jump from 118 kilowatt hours, but paired with improved efficiency and newly developed electric motors, the result is a noticeable increase in driving range. On paper, the EQS 450+ can now reach up to 575 miles under the WLTP cycle. In real-world United States conditions, that should translate to around 400 miles, which puts it right at the top of the luxury electric sedan segment.
The shift to an 800 volt electrical system is another big step. This change brings faster charging potential and better overall energy management, something that drivers will appreciate more during long trips than in everyday city driving. It also signals that Mercedes-Benz is aligning the EQS with the latest electric vehicle standards rather than letting it fall behind newer competitors.
From a design standpoint, the front end has been reworked to give the car a stronger presence. The new grille with its illuminated star pattern stands out immediately, especially at night. If you go for the AMG Line, the look becomes even more aggressive with a cleaner grille design and a glowing central emblem that feels very futuristic without going over the top.
Inside, the experience remains focused on technology and comfort. The MBUX Hyperscreen still stretches across the dashboard, creating a cockpit that feels more like a high-end digital lounge than a traditional car interior. The addition of steer by wire introduces a yoke style steering wheel, which may take some getting used to, but it shows how far Mercedes-Benz is willing to push innovation. Even small details like heated seatbelts hint at the brand’s focus on comfort in colder conditions.
The lineup is expected to include the EQS 450+, EQS 500 4Matic, and EQS 580 4Matic, giving buyers a range of performance and luxury options. Pricing has not been finalized yet, but considering the current model starts at $101,250 and climbs to $125,250, it is safe to expect a slight increase when the updated version arrives in the second half of 2026.
Overall, this update feels like Mercedes-Benz listened carefully to feedback and made changes that actually matter. It is not just about adding features, but about refining the entire experience, from range and charging to design and comfort.
