2027 Chevrolet Silverado WT Gets Duramax Diesel Power

2027 Chevrolet Silverado WT Gets Duramax Diesel Power

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 WT may sit at the entry point of the new Silverado lineup, but Chevrolet has made sure its work truck does not feel stuck in the past. The completely redesigned pickup combines a tougher new appearance with major improvements to technology, safety, and available powertrains.

The standard engine is an enhanced 2.7-liter TurboMax, now paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet has not released final output figures for the updated engine, but the previous version produced 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Buyers looking for traditional V8 power will also have access to Chevrolet’s new 5.7-liter V8, replacing the previous 5.3-liter option.

One of the biggest changes is the availability of the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel inline 6 engine on the WT. This gives work truck customers another option for drivers who prioritize torque, towing, and long-distance driving.

The cabin receives an equally significant transformation. Instead of feeling like a stripped-down commercial truck, the 2027 Silverado WT features a massive 16.3-inch center touchscreen along with a 12.2-inch digital instrument display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also help bring the base Silverado into the modern era.

Chevrolet has also expanded the truck’s safety technology. Features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and bicyclist detection, parking assistance, and reverse automatic braking are expected to make the WT considerably more advanced than traditional entry-level work trucks.

Practicality remains an important part of the formula. The Silverado WT continues to target commercial operators, contractors, fleets, and buyers who simply want a capable pickup without paying for unnecessary luxury equipment. Regular Cab availability should make it especially appealing to traditional truck buyers.

Chevrolet has not yet announced final horsepower, torque, towing, payload, or pricing figures for the 2027 Silverado WT. Those numbers will ultimately determine just how competitive it is. But based on what Chevrolet has revealed so far, the least expensive Silverado could end up being one of the most interesting versions of the entire 2027 lineup.
