2027 BMW M350 Has 437 HP and Drift Mode

2027 BMW M350 Has 437 HP and Drift Mode

The 2027 BMW M350 xDrive represents a major change for BMW’s performance-focused 3 Series. With a completely redesigned exterior, a new generation of interior technology, more power, and even a factory feature designed to help the car drift, the M350 xDrive moves further into serious performance territory while remaining a sedan that can be driven every day.

At the center of the new M350 xDrive is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine producing 437 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent through an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

Those numbers make this the most powerful M Performance version of the 3 Series yet. BMW says the M350 xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 miles per hour.

One of the biggest talking points, however, is not simply how much power the M350 makes. BMW is giving the car a feature called Drift Moment. The system can cut power going to the front wheels, allowing the M350 xDrive to behave more like a rear-wheel-drive performance car when the driver wants to slide the rear end.

This marks the first time this technology has appeared on an M Performance model. Drift Moment will not be active when the M350 initially reaches customers. BMW plans to introduce the feature through a software update sometime in 2027.

Visually, the M350 also represents a major departure from the previous 3 Series. BMW has brought its Neue Klasse design language to the combustion-powered sedan, giving the car a cleaner and more futuristic appearance while retaining an actual front grille.

The M350 receives several details that distinguish it from the regular 3 Series. Black exterior trim gives it a more aggressive appearance, while a rear spoiler and 4 exhaust outlets immediately signal that this is the performance-focused version. M Sport components add unique bumpers and side skirts, while blue M Sport brakes provide another visual clue to the car’s capabilities.

BMW will offer 19-inch wheels as standard, with 20-inch wheels available as an option. Flush door handles contribute to the smoother side profile, while the rear adopts the slim lighting treatment associated with BMW’s newest generation of vehicles. Optional yellow M lighting elements inside the headlights can further change the appearance of the car.

The transformation continues inside. The M350 uses BMW’s latest iDrive technology and Panoramic iDrive system, placing important information across the lower portion of the windshield. It is designed to keep useful information closer to the driver’s natural field of vision.

A large 17.9-inch trapezoidal central display handles many of the vehicle’s functions. BMW also integrates an artificial intelligence assistant powered by Amazon Alexa. My Modes allows drivers to personalize the cabin lighting and displays, while a TiVo-powered video application can stream television and movies when the vehicle is parked.

The M350 gets a performance-specific steering wheel with controls for M Mode and Boost functions. A head-up display is also available, adding another layer of information without requiring the driver to look away from the road.

What makes the 2027 BMW M350 xDrive especially interesting is how BMW is positioning it. With 437 horsepower, a 3.9-second sprint to 60 miles per hour, all-wheel drive, and the upcoming Drift Moment function, the gap between an M Performance 3 Series and a full M car is becoming increasingly narrow.

At the same time, the M350 remains part of the regular 3 Series family. It still offers 4 doors, everyday practicality, modern cabin technology, and the security of all-wheel drive.

The name itself also reflects BMW’s changing strategy. The familiar “i” designation has disappeared from the gasoline-powered model name, leaving M350 xDrive instead of M350i xDrive. This helps separate BMW’s combustion models from its growing lineup of electric vehicles carrying the “i” designation.

The 2027 BMW M350 xDrive is expected to launch in the United States in early 2027. Pricing starts at $65,900.

For enthusiasts, this could be one of the most interesting versions of the modern 3 Series. It combines the traditional formula of a powerful inline 6-cylinder engine with an entirely new generation of BMW design and technology. Add 437 horsepower and a factory Drift Moment feature, and the M350 xDrive is shaping up to be much more than simply the middle ground between a regular 3 Series and a full BMW M car.
