2027 Audi A6 Allroad First Look Bigger Wider Better
Audi has expanded its A6 family with the arrival of the new 2027 A6 Allroad, a model designed for drivers who want the comfort and practicality of a luxury wagon while also enjoying the confidence to travel beyond paved roads. While the Allroad formula is familiar, this latest version introduces several significant upgrades that help it stand apart from previous generations.
At first glance, the new A6 Allroad clearly shares its foundation with the A6 Avant, but Audi has given it a much tougher appearance. The suspension has been raised by 34 millimeters, giving the wagon additional ground clearance for rougher terrain. The increased ride height creates a more commanding stance while maintaining the elegant proportions that have made Audi wagons popular for decades.
One of the biggest surprises is the vehicle’s wider body. Audi has expanded the bodywork by 111 millimeters compared with the standard A6 Avant. Traditionally, wider fenders were reserved for high-performance models such as the RS6, making this the first Allroad to receive a noticeably broader stance. The result is a wagon that looks more planted, muscular, and capable than ever before.
The wider body also allows Audi to fit larger wheels and tires. Buyers can choose wheels ranging from 19 inches to 21 inches. The largest setup uses 285/35 tires, while the standard configuration features 265/45 tires mounted on 19-inch wheels. Audi says the wider tire footprint improves both road grip and overall stability.
Performance and handling receive attention as well. Audi equips the A6 Allroad with standard Quattro all-wheel drive, ensuring power reaches all four wheels when traction becomes limited. Rear-wheel steering is also included as standard equipment. At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn up to 5 degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels, helping the vehicle maneuver through tight spaces more easily. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, increasing stability and confidence during highway driving.
Another major feature is the adaptive air suspension. Specifically calibrated for the Allroad, the system continuously adjusts ride height and damping characteristics depending on road conditions. This allows the wagon to remain comfortable during daily commuting while also improving capability on gravel roads, dirt trails, and uneven surfaces.
For the first time in Allroad history, Audi is introducing a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The system combines a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor to generate a combined output of 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Those figures allow the wagon to accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds while reaching a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
The electrified powertrain is paired with a 20.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack. According to Audi, the vehicle can travel up to 59 miles on electric power alone under the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure cycle. Charging performance is also respectable, with support for alternating current charging at up to 11 kilowatts. A full recharge can be completed in approximately 2.5 hours.
For drivers who still prefer diesel power, Audi continues to offer its proven 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine. Enhanced with mild hybrid technology, the engine develops 295 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Audi claims the system virtually eliminates turbo lag while providing strong low-end performance. Despite producing less horsepower than the plug-in hybrid model, the diesel version reaches 62 miles per hour in just 5.4 seconds, making it slightly quicker in the sprint to highway speeds.
Both powertrains share the same electronically limited top speed of 155 miles per hour, giving buyers the choice between electrified efficiency and traditional long-distance diesel capability.
The new 2027 Audi A6 Allroad demonstrates how the luxury wagon segment continues to evolve. With its wider body, increased ground clearance, advanced suspension technology, standard rear-wheel steering, and the introduction of a plug-in hybrid system, this latest Allroad represents one of the most versatile models Audi has ever produced. European customers will see the vehicle arrive in dealerships this fall, with pricing in Germany starting at €77,250 for the diesel model and €80,250 for the plug-in hybrid version.
