2026 Toyota Hilux BEV Just Passed ANCAP’s Toughest Test

Toyota’s battery electric Hilux has reached an important milestone by earning a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, giving fleet operators and business buyers another zero emission option with top level crash protection.

The 2026 Toyota Hilux BEV underwent additional safety evaluations to ensure its high voltage battery system could meet the same strict standards expected of modern electric vehicles. The results showed that the electric version delivers safety performance that closely matches its diesel powered counterpart.

ANCAP awarded the Hilux strong scores across key testing categories, including adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, vulnerable road user protection, and safety assist technologies. These results helped secure the maximum 5 star rating for the vehicle.

For fleet managers, safety remains one of the most important factors when choosing new vehicles. The Hilux BEV now offers the combination of a proven pickup platform, electric power, and independently verified crash protection. This could make it an attractive choice for businesses looking to reduce emissions without compromising safety standards.

The electric Hilux is powered by a dual motor all wheel drive system paired with a 59.2 kilowatt hour battery pack. It produces 144 kilowatts of power and 468 Newton meters of torque while supporting fast charging capabilities.

As more commercial vehicles transition toward electrification, the Hilux BEV’s 5 star ANCAP rating provides added confidence for buyers considering the move from traditional diesel powered pickups to battery electric alternatives.
