2026 Mack Granite and Keystone World Premiere | The Future of Construction Trucks
The heavy truck industry saw a major moment when the new Mack Granite and the Mack Keystone made their world premiere during the construction equipment showcase surrounding ConExpo in Las Vegas. Mack Trucks used the event to introduce two machines designed specifically for demanding vocational work, from construction sites to logging operations. While both trucks serve similar industries, they take slightly different approaches to solving the challenges operators face every day.
The Mack Keystone is an all new Class 8 vocational tractor developed to handle rough environments while still maintaining strong highway capability. It is built for customers who need to move heavy loads from job sites to highways without sacrificing durability or comfort. Under the hood sits the Mack MP13 engine, a 13 liter diesel that produces up to 540 horsepower and 1,950 pound feet of torque. That power is paired with Mack’s mDRIVE HD automated manual transmission, allowing the truck to manage steep grades and heavy loads with less effort from the driver.
The Keystone was engineered with demanding terrain in mind. It offers improved ground clearance and strong approach angles so it can operate confidently on gravel roads, construction sites, and forest trails. Mack also offers multiple axle configurations including 6×4, 8×4, and 8×6 setups. These options allow fleets to tailor the truck to specific industries such as construction hauling, equipment transport, or logging.
Driver comfort also plays a major role in the new Keystone. Buyers can choose between a day cab, a 44 inch sleeper, or a 64 inch sleeper configuration depending on the type of work the truck will perform. Mack’s Command Steer system is available as well, reducing steering effort dramatically and helping drivers maneuver large loads in tight environments. Combined with modern digital displays and driver assistance technologies, the Keystone represents a significant step forward for vocational trucking.
Alongside the Keystone, Mack revealed the completely redesigned Granite, one of the brand’s most recognizable vocational trucks. The new Granite introduces a redesigned cab structure that improves both durability and driver space. The cab is built from galvanized steel and is about 9 inches wider at the B pillar, giving drivers more room to work during long shifts.
The interior has also been modernized with digital displays and improved control placement so drivers can easily manage vehicle systems. Mack added an advanced safety package called Mack Protect that includes radar coverage around the truck, electronic parking brake technology, and an automatic emergency call system designed to assist in the event of a serious incident.
Powertrain choices for the Granite include the Mack MP13 engine producing up to 540 horsepower and 1,950 pound feet of torque. Mack also offers the Cummins X10 engine with outputs ranging from 350 to 450 horsepower, giving fleets flexibility depending on their operational needs. Both engines can be paired with the updated mDRIVE automated manual transmission, which Mack says shifts up to 30 percent faster than the previous version.
Together, the new Granite and Keystone represent Mack’s push to modernize vocational trucks while maintaining the toughness the brand is known for. With improved safety systems, more comfortable cabins, and powerful drivetrains, these trucks are designed to meet the demands of today’s heavy industries while preparing for the future of construction and transport.
