The wide track width, long wheelbase and complex, comfortable chassis construction of the X 350 d 4MATIC ensure added driving pleasure and dynamism on the road without giving up the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.
The 190 kW (258 hp) strong 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine with common-rail direct injection gives the X-Class even more assertiveness with great torque levels already available in the low revs range. Whether driven in a sporty way, whether the focus is on comfortable long-distance journeys or whether you’re heading off-road, the V6 guarantees superior and efficient traction. The standard 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission just works – there’s no interruption in tractive power during gearshifts. That leads to better driving characteristics on climbs, off-road terrain and when towing a trailer. Further advantages of the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission are rapid gear changes and low revs. This has an especially positive effect on the efficiency and noise comfort of the vehicle. Steering wheel gearshift paddles also allow the driver to change gear manually.
Previously a rarity in the pick-up segment, the drive program selector switch is also part of the standard equipment on the X 350 d 4MATIC. The DYNAMIC SELECT system features five drive programs which allow the driver to adapt the vehicle’s driving characteristics to their own desires – the choice ranges from relaxed and comfort-oriented to sporty, dynamic driving. The programs alter the characteristics of the engine, the shift points of the automatic transmission and also the ECO start/stop function.
Comfort: This program is activated as standard upon starting the engine. It offers a comfortable and harmonious setup of the accelerator’s characteristic curve as well as early shifting.
ECO: The 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission shifts at especially low revs.
Sport: The engine reacts in a more spontaneous way to the accelerator pedal being depressed. When shifting, the automatic transmission makes use of the entire rev range of the engine and shifts at higher revs.
Manual: The automatic transmission can be shifted manually using the steering wheel gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. This leads to drastically shorter shift times in comparison with the Comfort and ECO programs.
Off-road: This program is suitable for driving in tough off-road terrain. It provides higher shift points and a flatter and thus more precisely controllable accelerator characteristic curve.
The 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive with low range transmission ratio and optional rear-axle differential lock guarantees the best possible performance and traction on the most varied of surfaces. The rear-biased distribution of the all-wheel drive system ensures increased driving dynamics and higher lateral acceleration on the road as well as better traction when accelerating. Optimal traction in almost any terrain is guaranteed thanks to the continuously variable longitudinal differential lock. Drivers can choose from three different all-wheel drive modes: 4MAT for improved driving dynamics, 4H for better traction off-road and 4L mode with standard reduction gear. Also available upon request is a 100-percent locking differential for the rear axle.
The X 350 d 4MATIC can be ordered in either the PROGRESSIVE or POWER equipment line, and thus sets new standards in the mid-size pick-up segment in terms of comfort and added value. In both equipment lines, the X 350 d 4MATIC is equipped as standard with the KEYLESS-GO system and two-zone THERMOTRONIC climate control system.
From March 2018, customers can order new, exclusive wheels for the various equipment lines of the X-Class: 17-inch 6-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in black with a high-sheen finish for the PURE and PROGRESSIVE lines, 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in black with a high-sheen finish and 19-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in tremolite grey with a high-sheen finish for the PROGRESSIVE and POWER lines. Thus in total there is a choice of seven different wheel designs available for the Mercedes-Benz pick-up.
The comprehensive range of accessories which Mercedes-Benz has designed specifically for the X-Class will also be expanded. New equipment includes the sports bar, the rollcover in black and the softcover. The scope ranges right from the styling bar and hardtop to load bed cladding, lashing rails in the load bed and even a stowage box and an underguard.
Thanks to the communications module installed in the X-Class, its drivers benefit from the comprehensive scope of services provided by Mercedes me connect. The module uses a permanently installed SIM card which provides online connectivity in more than 20 European markets and allows users to access certain vehicle functions using their smartphone.
