2016 Mercedes-AMG DTM Racecar Official

Mercedes has officially unveiled the first sketches of the all new 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe DTM racecar. The new styling was unveiled during one of the last DTM races of the year in Moscow. The new Mercedes C63 will be the latest in a series of Mercedes C-Class racing cars that have secured 85 victories for Mercedes over the course of a long 159 races. The racecar sketched in these drawings is scheduled to participate in the 2016 race season.

According to DTM rule book, all participating cars must be powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with four valves per cylinder. Previous Mercedes DTM race cars had to be downsized from the road-going versions. For example, For example the large displacement Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG had a 6.2 liter V8 engine that was downsized to a DTM-regulation 4 liter motor. However, this year’s model will not require any reduction in size as the current road-going Mercedes C63 already has a 4.0-liter V8. According to the Head of Mercedes-AMG DTM, Ulrich Fritz, “The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car.”
