$181,400 Range Rover Electric First Edition Has Arrived

$181,400 Range Rover Electric First Edition Has Arrived

The 2027 Range Rover Electric has finally arrived, bringing battery power to one of the world’s most recognizable luxury sport utility vehicles for the first time. Rather than reinventing the Range Rover formula, the company has taken a familiar flagship and given it an entirely new powertrain, while keeping the luxury, comfort, performance, and off road capability buyers expect.

One of the headline numbers is its estimated driving range. The Range Rover Electric can travel up to 333 miles on a full charge according to the Environmental Protection Agency estimate. That puts it in a much more practical position for long distance driving than many early luxury electric sport utility vehicles.

Energy comes from a large 118.5 kilowatt hour lithium ion battery. The electrical system uses an 800 volt architecture designed to support very fast charging. At a compatible 350 kilowatt direct current fast charger, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes. Under ideal conditions, a 10 minute charging stop can add as much as 125 miles of range.

Performance is another important part of the story. Electric motors drive both axles, providing instant response and all wheel drive. The Range Rover Electric can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in approximately 4.3 seconds. That is serious performance for a large luxury sport utility vehicle, but outright speed is only part of what Range Rover wanted to accomplish.

The electric model still needs to behave like a Range Rover when the pavement disappears. Its advanced traction technology can react extremely quickly to changing grip conditions and carefully distribute torque to keep the vehicle moving. Single pedal driving can also work with the Terrain Response system, giving the driver precise control across difficult terrain.

Water does not automatically stop it either. Range Rover says the electric model can wade through approximately 35 inches of water. It can also tow up to 5,511 pounds when properly equipped. Those figures reinforce the idea that electrification was not supposed to turn the flagship into a road only luxury vehicle.

Charging should be relatively convenient for North American owners because the vehicle uses the North American Charging Standard connection and provides access to Tesla Superchargers. Home charging is also supported, with a full charge possible in as little as 9 hours using a 19.2 kilowatt alternating current charger under suitable conditions.

For buyers wanting something more exclusive, the Range Rover Electric First Edition sits near the top of the launch lineup. Current United States pricing starts at $181,400. It builds upon the already luxurious Autobiography specification and adds special First Edition details.

Those additions include illuminated metal treadplates carrying First Edition script, a front center console refrigerator compartment, and the Tailgate Event Suite with leather cushions. Buyers also get the combination of Range Rover craftsmanship and the near silent character of electric propulsion.

The First Edition can be configured with distinctive exterior and interior treatments that help separate it from the regular versions. Range Rover has highlighted colors including Belgravia Green, Santorini Black, and Varesine Blue, along with a Light Cloud interior combining Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat materials.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the 2027 Range Rover Electric is how normal Range Rover wants it to feel. This is not an experimental concept wearing a famous badge. It is intended to deliver the quiet cabin, commanding road presence, serious terrain capability, and luxury expected from the flagship, only now without a gasoline engine.

With 333 miles of estimated range, rapid charging, strong acceleration, and genuine off road hardware, the electric Range Rover enters the market with much more than luxury on its side. The question now is whether traditional Range Rover buyers are ready to make the same move to electric power.
