Going by the rules for the FIA GT world championship Maserati has build a limited run of its potent Maserati MC12 racecar for public sale. From that ruling just a dozen MC12 GT1 super cars were produced, each weighing in at 1,150kg which is a significant weight lose compared to the standard MC12 which weighs 1,531kg and packing a 755 horsepower and 545lb-ft torque version of the 6.0L V12. Happy with the power train, engineers focused on improving the chassis, installing a special suspension system developed by Edo competition and manufactured by KW. The independently adjustable compression and rebound damping system permits three different adjustments, allowing for low-speed compression damping characteristics to be altered while the high-speed settings remain constant.
