The engine that will debut in the upcoming 2009 Lincoln MKS will be a flex-fuel 3.5L V6 delivering 415 hosepower and 400lb-ft of torque thanks to a pair of turbochargers and direct injection technology. According to Edmunds, Ford is also developing a 2.5L four-cylinder variant that will eventually power the Ford Fusion sedan and Ford Edge crossover by the end of the decade, as well as a new dual-clutch six-speed PowerShift gearbox that should also appear in the new 2009 Lincoln MKS. Performance buffs will be pleased to know that the Mustang is destined to receive a 5.0L Ford TwinForce V8, while an even larger 6.2L engine will be relegated to the Blue Oval’s full-size pickups and utility vehicles. Both V8 engines will not only benefit from TwinForce technology, but they’ll also feature a cylinder deactivation mechanism..
