The production version of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, expected to yield up to 40mpg (5.88L/100km) fuel economy plus 40mi (64km) of emissions-free electric driving, was unveiled today in Detroit.
“Revealing the production version of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid is a great way to open our second century,” said Rick Wagoner, GM Chairman and CEO. “The Volt is symbolic of GM’s strong commitment to the future … just the kind of technology innovation that our industry needs to respond to today’s and tomorrow’s energy and environmental challenges.” As the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid is still in development, its specifications could easily change before its expected sales release in late 2010. Nevertheless, GM has revealed the spec sheet as it currently stands.
