2014 Camaro Z28 vs Nissan GT-R Track Edition

Here it is folks we thought we would never see it but a muscle car with not too much technology versus a Nissan GTR with tons of technology. Will the Camaro Z28 be able to keep up with the mighty Nissan GTR track in addition a.k.a. "Godzilla".

We have to give some credit to the new Camaro as they have evolved over the years to become a track weapon which is great in straight line as expected but also goes through the twisties like a supercar. The previous Camaro ZL1 and LE1 were great cars but this Z28 version is the ultimate track weapon in a Camaro form.

The Z28 has a hand built LS7 427 engine straight from the previous Corvette z06 car. It also has a spool valve suspension that is also used on the Aston Martin one 77 and Formula One cars. Seats are from Ricaro and the tires are Pirelli R compound. And giant ceramic brakes that will also be on the upcoming Corvettes z06.

And of course the GTR needs no introduction as it is a supercar slayer.

So which one is better???

To start off the Z28 base price is $75,000 in the GTR base price is $116,000.

The Camaro has 505 hp 481 foot-pounds of torque and the Nissan GTR has 545 hp and 463 foot-pounds of torque.

The Camaro curb weight is 3857 pounds in the GTR weighs in at 3880 pounds.

The Camaro is a six speed manual the GTR is a six speed twin clutch automatic.

The Camaro did 0 to 60 mph in four seconds flat and through the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 117.2 mph.

The GTR did 0 to 60 in 2.7 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds at 125.1 mph. This is the fourth fastest production car they have ever tested.

60 to 0 mph braking the GTR did it in 94 feet versus 97 feet for the Camaro.

And for the biggest surprise on a road course race track the Z28 beat the GTR with the smallest of margins, few tenths of a second.

GTR 1:36.45
Z28 1:36.17

All in all both cars are amazing for their price and will beat cars that cost their double or maybe triple of their price tag.
