Paris Motor Show - Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept 09-30-10
Lamborghini was able keep its curb weight to 2,202 lbs, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastics. The entire car is essentially constructed from the lightweight materials including the monocoque, front frame, body panels, major suspension components and wheels. With a 570-horsepower V10 mounted behind the cockpit, the San Elemento has just 3.86 pounds to push for every horsepower. Lamborghini claims a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of over 186 mph.

Featuring four electric motors producing 195 horsepower at each wheel, along with two micro-gas turbines that – in theory – charge the batteries, the C-X75 can top 205 mph and has a projected combined range of 560 miles.

Packing 408 horsepower from its turbocharged five-cylinder engine and routing all those ponies through a six-speed manual gearbox to all four wheels, making for a power-to-weight ratio on par with that of the Audi R8 5.2 FSI.

There will be four available, starting with two 3.5-liter V6 engines in Europe. One is a 265-horsepower diesel engine and the other a 306-hp gas V6 with standard stop/start. Next comes the 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel with 204 hp, and last to arrive is the V8 CLS 550 putting out 402 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.
Paris Motor Show - New BMW 6 Series 09-30-10
The current engine lineup is expected to carry over relatively unchanged, however, a new twin-turbocharged V-8 will be adopted for the high-performance M6. This engine is expected to be a variation of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter unit found in the current X5 M and X6 M but output could be dialed up to around 570 horsepower for application in the new M6.

Authorities in Brazil have launched an investigation after more than 100 people were hurt when spectator stands collapsed during a car race in Parana state. At least 111 people were injured - 22 critically - as part of the metal stands gave way at the race in Quatro Pontes on Sunday. Authorities said structural faults may have caused the collapse.
