Why the New Chery FULWIN X3L Could Be a Game-Changer Explained
Chery has officially launched the FULWIN X3L in China, and it is making a strong impression right from the start. The new model comes as an extended-range electric vehicle with prices ranging between 119,900 RMB and 159,900 RMB, while a limited-time trade-in offer drops the starting cost to 109,900 RMB. For drivers looking for an affordable entry point into off-road-capable new energy vehicles, this is a bold statement from Chery.
Under the hood, the X3L is powered by the Kunpeng Golden CEM-S system with a 1.5T range extender. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive version delivers 185 kW and 300 Nm of torque, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version takes things up to 315 kW with 505 Nm of torque, achieving 0–100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. With a thermal efficiency of 45.79% and a generator output of 100 kW, the drivetrain is built to combine performance and efficiency.
The X3L carries a 33.68 kWh battery pack that offers a pure electric driving range of either 135 km or 215 km, depending on the variant. On a full charge and tank, the combined range stretches beyond 1,200 km, giving it the endurance needed for both city life and long-distance travel.
Chery built the X3L with toughness in mind. Its all-aluminum cage body weighs only about 230 kg yet achieves torsional stiffness of 31,812 N·m/deg. Add to that a cast-aluminum H-arm rear suspension and FSD variable damping system, and the vehicle is set up to tackle challenging terrains. It measures 4545 mm in length, 1950 mm in width, and 1815 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2783 mm. Ground clearance stands at 225 mm, supported by a wading depth of 625 mm and approach and departure angles of 22° and 30°.
Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate features like compass and tank turns, low-speed crawl control, flexible downhill control, and one-pedal off-road driving. The X3L can tow up to 1.6 tons and handle 75 kg on its roof rack, making it practical for overlanding setups.
Inside, the cabin is modern and tech-heavy. A 15.6-inch 2.5K central screen pairs with a 9.2-inch digital cluster, running on a Qualcomm 8155 chip. Four-zone intelligent voice control, wireless charging, and available seat heating, ventilation, and memory settings round out the comfort features.
For safety and convenience, the X3L comes equipped with Chery’s Falcon 500 system, which uses end-to-end algorithms that do not require high-definition maps. It supports highway navigation, memory parking, remote parking, trajectory reversing, and more than 20 advanced safety features.
The Chery FULWIN X3L is available in four trims, including the entry-level 135 Standard, the 215 Premium, the 215 Smart with enhanced driver assistance, and the top-spec 205 AWD High-Performance version. Whether you are an urban driver or someone ready to head out into the wild, the X3L feels like a confident and capable choice.
