Why the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special Turns Heads: Design, Performance & Price

The newest special-edition car from Ford offers a fascinating blend of heritage styling and modern electric performance. The 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special draws on the name and spirit of the original California Special models of the late 1960s, but rather than replicating the past it reinterprets it for the electric age. With the human touch built into its design, this edition brings personality, color and attitude to the Mach-E GT platform.

On the exterior you’ll notice the striking new “Rave Blue” colouring that evokes the California coastline, paired with 20-inch carbonised-grey wheels that display a GT/CS logo. The front grille features an illuminated pony emblem glowing in Rave Blue, and the hood carries a distinctive graphic inspired by coastal sunsets. Inside, the cabin follows the theme: “Navy Pier” ActiveX/Miko upholstery with reflective blue and silver stripes, the centre console and steering wheel wrapped in matching materials, and floor mats that echo the stitching details. Ford designers say they embraced authentic inspiration from California car-culture shows and owner customisations, with a clear human-centred design ethos.

Underneath the styling package the vehicle remains the high-performance Mach-E GT with dual motors and all-wheel drive. The package is built upon a 480-horsepower base, and when paired with the Performance upgrade delivered torque up to 700 lb-ft. An EPA-estimated range of approximately 280 miles makes it practical as well as quick. Because it uses the GT foundation, you get the full performance DNA rather than just a cosmetic overlay.

Ford is offering the California Special package at an additional cost of USD 2,495 above the Mach-E GT base price. Orders open on October 22, and first deliveries are expected in early 2026.
